DiDonato Associates was retained by the Erie County Department of Public Works, Division of Highways to design the replacement structures for County Bridge Nos. 446-1, 446-4, and 446-5, New Oregon Road over South Branch Eighteen Mile Creek. This replacement project closed the bridges to through traffic and required the use of detours. Under phase 1 of this project, bridges 446-1 and 446-5 were replaced. Phase 2 of the project replaced bridge 446-4. Belcher Road, Boston Road, and Rocky Mountain Road were used as parts of the necessary detours during the construction from August through November 2002.
The off-site detour had minimal traffic impact due to the low volume carried by this section of New Oregon Road. No environmental impact was expected in the creek with minimal or no impact on stream flow.
