DiDonato Associates provided design and construction inspection services for this locally administered pass-through project being performed for Erie County. The project is a highway rehabilitation, safety, and capacity improvement for a 1.5 mile segment of Maple Road, one of Erie County’s most traveled highways with over 25,000 vehicles per day.
This work includes construction and rehabilitation of pavement, new open and closed highway drainage system, curb and gutters, driveways, and improvements to the sidewalks. The project includes improvements to the existing traffic signals at the intersections within the project limits. Extended stacking lanes and new dedicated turn lanes will be added throughout the project limits. Utility relocations and minor waterline improvements will also be required as part of the project scope.
The project also involves full depth reconstruction of North Bailey Avenue between Maple Road and Romney Road. This portion of the project was constructed for the Town of Amherst and includes road, drainage, and traffic signal improvements. Dedicated turn lanes were added to help alleviate traffic congestion. Sidewalk enhancements were included to improve pedestrian access through the North Bailey corridor.
The improvements significantly reduce traffic congestion and public safety throughout the project corridor.
